More information about Dr. McCormick
Dr. McCormick is married to Brevard native Mike McCormick.  Their family consists of Tycho (a golden retriever), 3 cats at home (Velcro, Marshy, and Orion) and 3 clinic cats (Hershey, Vega and Oliver).

Dr. McCormick was raised as an “army brat” and traveled extensively with her family as a child. Dr. McCormick’s childhood included living in South America at the ages of 5-7 where her love of animals began. Her family pets at that time included a dog, a horse, a macaw, a tortoise, a rhea (ostrich family), 3 donkeys, and numerous chameleons and lizards.

After obtaining a BS in Chemical Engineering (University of VA) in 1980 she moved to Brevard to work at Olin Corporation (Ecusta Paper Mill) as a process engineer where she met her husband, Mike. After two years at Ecusta, Dr. McCormick went back to school and obtained a MS in Biomedical Engineering (Clemson University)  and then went to work in the Dept of Surgery at the Medical College of VA doing ultrasound research.

She returned to Brevard in 1986 and started the Hendersonville Vascular Laboratory which she managed for ten years. During these ten years she realized that her love of medicine and animals could be fulfilled by pursuing a degree in veterinary medicine. She was able to achieve her dream of becoming a veterinarian when she got accepted at NC State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994.

Combining her human ultrasound experience with her veterinary degree, Dr. McCormick started Davidson River Ultrasound Services in 1998. She offers referral veterinary ultrasound services to other veterinarians throughout Western North Carolina.  In 2003, she opened Pisgah Pet Care Animal Hospital, a full service veterinary hospital. When she is on the road doing ultrasounds, she has a relief veterinarian seeing patients at Pisgah Pet Care Animal Hospital.
